"I love you most"

Since the very beginning of our relationship, the Canadian and I have been playing the silly and cheesy "I love you" - "I love you more" game. I believe he started it. Every time I'd say "I love you", he'd say "I love you more" back. I've always found it a little annoying. I don't think it's cute. I take it as an accusation supposed to make me feel guilty. I don't think he loves me more. I don't think I love him more. I think we love each other and that's all that matters. Ok maybe I do think I love him more. A little. Sometimes. But I think it's how you should feel, too :)

So when we heard Rapunzel and her fake mother play this little game like a well choreographed routine in Tangled, it made us smile.
"I love you" "I love you more" "I love you most"
Especially me, because I now have something to say after his "I love you more".
I love you most, husband. There, you have it.

Letter to Santa

I admit I have been spoiled this year.

I got a fiancé.
I went on a trip to Japan.
I got jewelry from De Beers, and Tiffany's.
I got goodies from Gucci and Vivienne Westwood.
I got the yummiest wedding cake.
I got a beautiful white wedding dress.
I got a husband.

But... if I were to sit on Santa's lap... this is what I would ask for.

This new baby. I love mine dearly but if I were to change him (yes, it's a he) I would go for the new and improved him.

This adorable Maje coat.

A YSL Roady. Because it's the perfect bag. Even the husband agrees. Just not the perfect price...

Beautiful, classic Tory Burch boots.

A loft. With a brick wall. In Toronto.

A girl can dream, right ?

Merry White Christmas !

It's definitely a white Christmas in Paris !
It makes me really happy, but I do feel bad for all the people stuck in airports all over Europe who won't be able to spend the holidays with their families.

My husband and I are going to have a very intimate Christmas since this year it's just the two of us (and Simone !). We couldn't make it to Canada this time, my parents are in Istanbul, and my brother is is Spain.

Oh well ! We definitely miss our families but we're still very happy to celebrate our first Christmas as husband & wife. We bought tons of foie gras, champagne, smoked salmon, clementines, and baked a zillion cookies and a yummy tourtière

We had lunch in a really cute bistro yesterday but the food was pretty bad and then we went to the Centre George Pompidou. It's a great museum of modern art most Parisians actually call "Beaubourg". We went to Starbucks. Twice. Why not ?! And right now, we're off to see Tangled. I can't wait !

Merry Christmas from Paris everyone !

I'm dreaming of a White (Parisian) Christmas

And there is hope !

It's been snowing quite a lot in Paris this past month. We had the most snow on our wedding day, which was absolutely amazing, but we've had a few other good snow days since then. Snow here is so rare and magical ! I woke up today with white snowflakes falling down from the sky and started thinking that maybe, just maybe, we might have a white Christmas for the first time in Paris !!
I miss this

In other news, these past few weeks have been hectic and I'm really glad I can finally rest. I have four days off and I intend to spend them with my husband, eating the 14 Advent calendar chocolates I forgot to eat, drinking champagne, eating (again) my husband's tourtière (it's a French Canadian meat pie, pretty delicious when well-made), cuddling with Simone who is still with us while my parents are in Istanbul, watching movies and sleeping in !

the forgotten chocolates

One last thing ! Thank you all so much for your sweet comments about our wedding pictures. We had the day we wished for and we were happy to share a few photos with all of you.

Newlyweds

The Canadian and I have been married for two weeks today, and I must say I love being his wife.
I love everything about married life.
I love calling him my husband.
I love that we're a family.
I love that it's official.
I love it all.

I think the Canadian likes it too.. he asks me twice a day if he can marry me all over again because he wants to be "more married". Cute.

The Good Wife

Today,

- I did some grocery shopping
- I cooked lunch for my dad & my husband who were home doing some plumbing
- I cleaned the mess after said plumbing (and boy was it dirty and gross)
- I baked & decorated another batch of Christmas cookies (more on that later)
- I did the dishes, cleaned a little more
- I finished proof-reading my hubby's 5th chapter
- I did laundry. two loads to be exact (can I just add we do not own a drier)
- I changed our sheets (we have a loft bed, it gets pretty frustrating pretty quickly)
- I played with the cat. yes, Simone is staying with us for a little while !
- I took out the trash

... and yet I still feel like I have a million things to do. But that's probably because I do !

Now about the cookies. They are the same as last year, except this time I didn't have anything to decorate them in my pantry, so I had to get creative with some icing sugar, lemon juice, and edible glitter.

Random (Parisian) Thoughts

I love Paris in the winter. It is so beautiful and romantic. All the warm terraces full of people enjoying a glass of wine or a hot chocolate. The smell of wood fire in the streets. Christmas lights everywhere. Busy people hurrying to get home.

I feel like December has gone by so quickly. Where have the first two weeks gone ?! Between work and our December 4th wedding, I feel like I haven't had time to enjoy the holiday season.

I hate my job. I've been hating my job for a long time now. It was supposed to be temporary, until we move to Canada. But since we don't know when we're moving to Canada, it is getting a little tough. I have to stop myself from quitting everyday. It's not good.

I love married life. Granted it's not really different from "engaged life". Except we're married. I love my husband.

I wish we could go back to our wedding night hotel suite. I miss the Hermès Eau d'Orange Verte bath products. And breakfast in bed. And the complimentary macaroons.

My brother got me this little Vivienne Westwood beauty:
I love it.

Our Christmas Tree - Details

I felt like sharing a few pictures of our little tree, and the story behind some of our ornaments.
Our ornaments this year. Some of them have a shiny finish, some a matte finish. They're really pretty together
This is the ornament we bought when we went to Disneyland Paris together for the first time
This ornament was a gift a very dear friend of ours sent us from Quebec
I had to use the flash for this one. It was so hard to photograph !
This Swarowski snowflake was a wedding present from the Canadian's sister. It says 2010 on the tiny plaque. It was such a thoughtful gift and it looks amazing in the tree

This is the ornament we bought while on our mini-moon in Disneyland. We figured it would be nice to have something that'll remind us of Paris for years to come
I bought these at Ikea
And this is a cookie I bought for my sweet husband. No, it's not staying in the tree, I just thought it looked cute !

Mini-Moon in Disneyland

My new hubby and I went to Disneyland Paris on thursday. It has been snowing like crazy in Paris (a rare occurrence !!) and we had a lot of fun in the beautiful white park.

NB: The Canadian has decided he didn't want his face to appear on our blog anymore. Don't ask me why, I don't get it. So there. It will be a very narcissistic blog from now on.

Showing off my wedding ring
Chillin' with Santa in Disney Studios
Oh yes. It says "World's Greatest Super Wife"
So pretty with all the snow !

The Good, the Bad, the Ugly

I wrote a similar list last year and figured it was very à propos today.

The Good

Today is December 1st. I love December. It's probably my favorite month of the year. Plus I got to eat the first chocolate in my Advent Calendar this morning. (Yes, I also love Advent Calendars)

We bought our Christmas tree yesterday & I decorated it while listening to Jessica Simpson's Happy Christmas (it's not that good, but I love her). Our tree is minimalist and super cute (I like seeing the actual tree so I tend to go really easy on the ornaments)

It is snowing in Paris !! Real snow ! And quite a lot !

After shopping around Le Bon Marché,

... we had lunch at Le Pain Quotidien

and it was delicious !

The Bad

Snow means it's got to be pretty cold. We are freezing our butts off. And there is no North Face allowed here. We're in Paris, remember ? My Comptoir des Cotonniers coat doesn't really cut it. I did cave in and started wearing my Uggs again

We bought lights for the tree. And we didn't see they were multicolored. There goes our minimalist tree. I'm annoyed

Snow is magical, and I love the cold. I'm really happy at the idea of a snowy winter wedding. Except apparently it's not going to happen:
What the heck ?!!

The Ugly

I have a very bad eye infection since yesterday. Yes. On the week of my wedding, I look like Frankenstein. Talk about "Ugly" ! I already went twice to the doctor's and the first treatment didn't work. It's tough because there is no way to know whether I have an allergy or a simple bacterial infection. I am trying to stay positive but it has been really hard, especially since it's impossible to keep my mind of it because of the pain and discomfort. I am hoping it gets better by saturday, but it's not looking too good. I am slowly getting used to the idea of wearing sunglasses to my rainy winter wedding. My mind is a little crushed and it's hard to enjoy these last few days before the wedding. Everything would be so perfect if it weren't for this.

I'll go put some more eyedrops now. I'll leave you with my favorite Canadian man and the Cupcake tree
