Introducing Kusmi

Bonjour friends!
Long time no blog, I am truly sorry about my absence around here.
I post more regularly on here : http://beautyandthebooksbelle.blogspot.ca/, but if you don't care about makeup it might not be for you!

I wanted to take a moment to let you know that, yes, we are still alive and well.
We are busy working long hours and planning yet another move, to Edmonton, Alberta this time!
What a crazy life we lead.
We hope to be able to settle for a while there, but who knows?

Our little family grew in February, when we adopted a beautiful little kitten.
She is a Bombay, and already looks like a tiny panther.

Kusmi was born on November 7th to a Burmese dad and Bombay Mom. She is the light of our lives !
She is incredibly funny, cuddly and smart. She is convinced she is a dog, or a monkey, as she loves playing fetch, hide and seek or climb on our legs like we are trees. She loves to be held like a baby and wants to be near us as much as possible.

Polka Dots : A Little Project (and Tutorial)

See, we have these small, boring, white tea cups that we never use.
So when I came across this blog post, I thought, why not, it looks easy enough!
Easy, it was. If I can do it, a 3 year old child could.

You will need

Plain white porcelain cups (or anything else you feel like drawing on)
A Sharpie marker in the color of your choice
An oven

Step 1 :

Put on some good music
Get our cups out

Step 2

Choose your marker, and draw !
If you mess up, you can rub it off really easily (use a little bit of rubbing alcohol if the stain is stubborn)

Step 3

Bake in the oven for 30 minutes at 350°F. Let them cool for a while.

Step 4 :

VoilĂ !
Enjoy your pretty tea cups!

On the way to Afghanistan, part III

From Greece, the boys flew to Kabul.
They stayed in Afghanistan for a few days then flew to Kuwait.
From there, they flew to Germany, and then finally back to Canada.

Afghanistan is exactly like what you see on the news.
Polluted, dirty, poor.

On the way to Afghanistan, part II

The second stop on my husband's journey to Afghanistan was in Rhodes, Greece.
It was a short layover but he still managed to enjoy some of the sights and a greek salad, of course.

On the way to Afghanistan, part I

At the beginning of December, my husband was invited to participate in an observation mission in Afghanistan.

The flight was long and there were several layovers.

Here are a few of his photos from the first one in Zaragoza, Spain.
